Completed BA degree at Hope College in Holland, MI.
Completed DDS degree at U of M Dental in Ann Arbor, MI.
Completed Dawson Institute.
Currently a member of the following groups: ADA, MDA, WMDDA, AGD.
Currently serving as trustee of Wayland Area Emergency Medical Services.
Served as Councilman of Wayland City during 84-96.
Has been practicing in Wayland since 1976.

Practice Philosophy

The principles which guide our attitude and the service we provide is built on the foundation of respect, appreciation, acceptance, and trust. We are providing comprehensive, high quality, aesthetic dental care in a friendly, relaxed, and caring environment. We strive to help each person maintain or improve not only their oral health but their overall well being.

The Enjoyment of Practicing Dentistry:

This profession of dentistry is enjoyable and fulfilling in so many ways. There is such a wide range of opportunities to help others in improving the quality of their lives. We have numerous ways of caring for the oral health needs in this country that so many other places in the world cannot even imagine. Dentistry is comprised of a wonderful blend of both art and science. It is a continually changing profession with increasing knowledge in prevention and treatment. Our knowledge of periodontal disease, tooth decay, and occlusal damage has increased significantly in the last ten years and it continues to increase. It is exciting to be in a profession with such an endless number of opportunities to improve our skills, abilities, and service.

Native of: Wayland; have lived in Wayland since 1950.

Family members: Wife Martha and three grown children, Elizabeth, Dan and Hugh.

Leisure activities: Gardening, canoeing, fishing, camping, country skiing, bird watching.
